ABOUT

Master Metalsmith Darcy W.A. Shaw began working with metal when he was 16 years old in his family garage. His love for metal and mixed media continued to grow, eventually developing into a career path. He has experience as a Machinist, Millwright, Welder and Blacksmith and graduated at the top of his class with the Dean’s Award for Welding at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.

Darcy W.A. Shaw has smithed at an internationally renowned fine art shop, while apprenticing to Master Blacksmith Mike Nieckar. He also has experience at various commercial welding and fabricating companies, working with and learning an extensive variety of techniques.  As foreman at a large Canadian metalworking shop he was able to share his passion by mentoring others in the art of crafting.

With over 20 years of metalworking and mixed media experience, Mr. Shaw has achieved a level of excellence in crafting that few ever attain.

Now offering his services to the public, Mr. Shaw’s versatility allows him to craft custom pieces in a variety of different forms. He enjoys working with new materials and finding creative solutions to unique challenges.
